The next set of vows in this series is from a wedding in March 2016. If you want to know more about this series, check out previous entries here!
A reminder: these vows are published to inspire you and provide you with some ideas for writing your vows; they’re not here so you can copy them word for word! Please also remember these don’t include the legally required vows – those words generally go at the start of these ones.
Groom
A set of words…
When you love someone, love them completely
Without conditions
Without constraints
To be yourself with them, silly or serious, and to cherish them for all that they are
To celebrate diversity
And celebrate two worlds becoming one
These are my feelings and vows to you
To be with you always, within your heart, mind and soul
To lift you up, to encourage you to shine
To always be a source of strength, and your centre
To declare to you and to all those here that I care and love
That my heart sings at the thought of you
That I love my life with you and cannot contemplate being apart
Not even for a night
That you inspire me, challenge me, enliven me
That you are my world, my joyous life, my beautiful love
And it will always be thus.
Bride
I choose you and I promise
To stand by your side and sleep in your arms.
To be joy to your heart and food for your soul.
To learn with you and grow with you, even as time and life changes us both.
I promise to laugh with you every day.
To be your lover, companion and a true and loyal friend.
I will be your ally in conflict.
I will be your greatest fan and your toughest adversary.
I promise to respect you and cherish you as an individual, a partner, and an equal, knowing that we do not complete, but complement each other.
I will value our differences as much as our common ground.
I promise to hold your hand every night and to never let us lose our spark.
Finally, I promise to be myself.
I cherish our attitude toward finding adventure in life.
May we have many adventures and grow old together.
