The next set of vows in this series is from a wedding in October 2015. If you want to know more about this series, check out previous entries here!
A reminder: these vows are published to inspire you and provide you with some ideas for writing your vows; they’re not here so you can copy them word for word! Please also remember these don’t include the legally required vows – those words generally go at the start of these ones.
Before I met you, I thought I was content with the world. Now I know that there so much more to learn, to explore and to experience. Because of you I see the world as a place of endless possibilities.
I will love you when the sun rises and I will love you equally as much when the sun sets. You are my best friend, my confidant, my teacher, my lover, but most of all you are my better half. As long as you are with me there’s no place I’d rather be.
I vow to cherish and honour you all the days of my life, in sickness and in health. I promise to always encourage you, to be the rock that you can lean on. I promise to try to eat healthier, to continue yoga and to keep going on bike rides. I promise to be less grubby, to wash the dishes without needing a rest first and clean the bathroom without being asked.
Most of all I promise that I will always make you feel special every day, just like how you make me feel.
You of all people know me best as an adult. You are the most precious thing to me because you know my mistakes and my flaws and you still love me and accept me without trying to change these things. This is more precious to me than anything material, you or anyone could ever offer. And so I will always cherish, respect and love you, until the end of time.
I promise to be always gentle and kind to you. To show you the same un-ending patience you show me. To always respect your opinions as you respect mine. I want to learn life’s lessons with you, and share as many adventure together as we can squeeze into our lives, even if it’s just to go to the pet store to look at all the googley-eyed fish for hours.
You have helped me grow as an adult. You have made me a better person by teaching me to be a little less selfish and a little more considerate of other people. You tolerate so much of my nonsense, and give so much of yourself to our relationship. You are as genuine as genuine can be, you are steadfast and unwavering. It’s taken me a long time to fully appreciate this, and I want to make sure I never forget how much better you make me and my life.
I love you.
