If you’ve been paying attention, you know I’m a celebrant who supports marriage equality 100%. I was therefore delighted when I heard about the great project undertaken by two Canberra celebrants to develop a logo for use by those of us who are happy to work with same sex couples. From the project website:
Celebrants displaying this logo have a policy of treating the LGBTI community with dignity and respect. They support the Marriage Equality movement and same sex marriage.
The logo combines easily recognised symbols: wedding rings, rainbow colours, and the equal sign. It was initiated and designed specifically for celebrants by Judy Aulich and Charles Foley, so that members of the LGBTI community, and also those who support marriage equality, can easily find celebrants who will welcome their business.
I am proud and excited to display this logo prominently on my website, Facebook page, and marketing materials. I’m looking forward to the day when marriage in Australia is about love, not gender.
I also want to use this opportunity to reiterate my guarantee to same sex couples who book me for a commitment ceremony before the law is changed: when the amendment comes through, I will legalise your marriage completely free of charge.
