My love for you is real wedding vows

awesome wedding vows
This entry is part 30 of 57 in the series Awesome Wedding Vows

Here’s the next set of awesome wedding vows in my series of amazing (de-identified) vows from one of my beautiful couples!

Some of my couples have written such incredible words of love and promise, and I thought they’d act as great inspiration for other couples who have no idea where to start when writing their own vows. While I provide all my couples with a vow pack that contains questions to get you started and loads of individual sentences that can be put together to create vows (and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that), the vows in this series all include the kind of personal touches that I think make wedding vows beautiful and genuine. To me, the most successful vows are personal, from the heart, and written in language the speaker would use in their everyday life.

Also remember: the word vow means promise. While we all love hearing all the reasons you love your partner, your vows are your chance to tell your partner all the things you are promising them for your lives together into the future. Don’t forget the promises!

A reminder: these vows are published to inspire you and provide you with some ideas for writing your vows. They’re not here so you can copy them word for word!

Also remember these don’t include the legally required vows – those words generally go at the start of these ones.

Party 1

From the very beginning, our friendship and our connection were instant, and it amazes me how much more our friendship has grown and continues to grow. We share the same values, the same philosophy on life, and that same desire to learn and grow and better ourselves. We have been through a lot together in such a short amount of time, yet I feel that we’ve known each other for decades. (I mean that in a good way!)

You have always been there for me, and you’ve been my best friend through some really bad times, as well as some amazingly wonderful life-changing times. You have been my sounding board, my guide and support, my inspiration and motivation, my warm blanket, my protégé in some aspects and my mentor in others.

Most importantly, and something that has changed my life forever, and something that I will be eternally grateful for, was how you showed me… that bunnies can be lovely pets to have, even in your 30s. Bunnies are amazing… has anyone got a bunny? They’re like a cat but kinda not, and they’re like a dog but kinda not… they’re like… bunnies! Anyways, so thanks for opening my eyes to that.

I promise to:

  • Commit to share my life with you, and only you.
  • Show you the respect and honour you deserve.
  • Provide for your needs as best I can.
  • Respect you as an individual, and put the needs of ‘us’ as a team on as equal scale as the needs of ‘us’ as individuals.
  • Grow with you, help you with life’s challenges, and encourage you to achieve your goals.
  • Always be your favourite gym buddy.
  • Always be the one who will empty out the mouldy food from the fridge, regardless of the fact that it was you who left it there.
  • To show you every day that you are loved and that you are adored.
  • To never, ever leave your side, no matter what life throws at us – bad things or good things.
  • And I promise to always be the one you can depend on and trust in, and the one who will always have your back.

You ARE my very best friend; you are truly my soul mate. I’m going to be so proud to call you my wife. You are the absolute love of my life. And it’s the rest of that life that I can’t wait to continue to share with you.

Party 2

You are the man that I always dreamt I would find. There were a handful of years where I didn’t believe true love really existed, or if it did exist, that I just wasn’t worthy of it. And then I found you. It was like I had found my missing piece and life suddenly made sense. I am finally able to enjoy the things in life that I always pretended to enjoy but actually never did. It’s like you ‘turned the lights on’ in my life.

I love that you open up to me and that we can resolve anything by talking it through. I love that with every resolution we not only discover new things about each other, but also about ourselves. I am sure we will continue to change and grow in many ways and I look forward to us changing together. I love that your favourite place to be is the same as my favourite place to be: at home. I love that you are humble, sensible, wise and articulate. I love that you are highly observant and deeply sensitive. You do have a fragile heart and I promise to protect it. I love that you iron your own shirts and fold your own underwear! I love that you encourage me to lead a healthy lifestyle and are gradually training me to be tidier.

From this day forward I promise to be worth it: worth the drama, worth the heartache, worth the time and worth the effort that you put into me. I will always be your number 1 fan, accept you for who you are, and never try to change you into somebody you are not. I promise to support your goals and be open to your ideas. I promise to love your kids and care for them as if they were my own. I promise to help you stay connected with your family, and to make our family’s love and happiness my number one priority.

Unfortunately I can’t promise to always be well behaved, but I will try! My love for you is real and I’m confident it will last forever.
