Sense of humour wedding vows

awesome wedding vows
This entry is part 39 of 60 in the series Awesome Wedding Vows

Here’s the next set of awesome wedding vows in my series of amazing (de-identified) vows from one of my beautiful couples!

Some of my couples have written such incredible words of love and promise, and I thought they’d act as great inspiration for other couples who have no idea where to start when writing their own vows. While I provide all my couples with a vow pack that contains questions to get you started and loads of individual sentences that can be put together to create vows (and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that), the vows in this series all include the kind of personal touches that I think make wedding vows beautiful and genuine. To me, the most successful vows are personal, from the heart, and written in language the speaker would use in their everyday life.

Also remember: the word vow means promise. While we all love hearing all the reasons you love your partner, your vows are your chance to tell your partner all the things you are promising them for your lives together into the future. Don’t forget the promises!

A reminder: these vows are published to inspire you and provide you with some ideas for writing your vows. They’re not here so you can copy them word for word!

Also remember these don’t include the legally required vows – those words generally go at the start of these ones.

Party 1

Bebe, at the end of our eight-and-a-half-hour long second date, I knew I’d found someone very special. Fast forward nearly three years and we’ve managed to accomplish so much together – we’ve bought a house, a car, a satanic dog, and a 75-inch TV.

I love the fact that I get to wake up next to my best friend every day. We’ve experienced amazing highs together, and I’ll be forever grateful to you for being my emotional rock through some difficult lows.

I promise to always admire you for the person you are, through good times and bad. I promise to love and cherish you, even when you don’t rinse the dishes before stacking the dishwasher. I promise to always be there to support you in pursuing your dreams. But most of all, I promise to try and remember to pick up my dirty clothes.

I love your laugh, your smile, your wicked sense of humour and your love of our ridiculous animals. But more than anything I love that I have finally met my match, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.

Party 1

Bebe, I knew there was something special between us after our second date went for eight hours of us just talking and realizing how much in common we had. It is a good kind of crazy how alike we are and how often we say the same thing at the same time, say the thing the other person was about to say, or bring up the subject the other was thinking about.

Our most endearing quality is the fact we share the same sense of humour and banter and I can’t remember a day we haven’t made each other laugh. Especially when you try to tell me you are funnier than me. Maybe when it comes to dad jokes.

While the road to get here hasn’t always been smooth sailing, mainly because my stubbornness is only trumped by yours, it has been some of the best of times and I already have such amazing memories of our time together.

We complement each other, support each other and know that we can get through anything together. We share very similar values and I am proud of how hard you work so we can build that life together. You have become quite the handyman since we bought our first house, however you still are not allowed on ladders.

I vow to remember all your positive qualities like your massive heart and compassion and the love you show all creatures great and small, even Ernie after he has chewed a new hole in your recliner, Lucy when she is barking her head off and annoying the neighbours, and Nifti when she is just being her purrfect little self (see what I did there). I will remember all this when your idiosyncrasies are driving me up the wall like your super-coach and sports in general obsession and Tom Cruise admiration. This doesn’t mean you can watch any of his movies in my presence.

I vow to remember all you do for me including cooking meals some would describe as ‘alright’ and running errands for me, and I will try to relax a bit more about things not needing to be done right away. But if you could put your dirty clothes in the washing basket instead of next to it, that would be great.

I vow to remember you are my true north and that when anyone asks where home is for me, home is where the heart is, so home is wherever you and our fur babies are. I love you so much.
